I was a queen from the kingdom of Reality
You were the prince of Blurry Fantasy
I occupied myself with the colors of the sky
You made my work more difficult
By turning pale bright and dark to light
I can recall a day so long ago
When I was still a child and you knew all
I was overcome with curiosity
At your life, your eyes of turquoise
And peered behind the dark plush curtain
That separated your kingdom from mine
My eyes were young and widening
With the smell of the grass
And the smoke in the air
It was the beginning of my unraveling
You smiled and extended a hand
To bring me in and help me up
I climbed onto your shoulders
And could see the fiery sunset
And a glittering sea the color of your eyes
There were no words for my delight
So I turned to tell you so
There were sparks in your eyes like electricity
Your smile faded to seriousness
And I will never forget that right then
You kissed me
My eyes were young and widening
At each sensation you gave to me
And the way I thrilled when you touched me
It was the beginning of my unraveling
The story goes on but I must end here
You showed me love and I turned and fled
Overpowered by desire, I was far too afraid
To stay, and risk you running away
I married into a world of black and white, Reality
I was told that you died yesterday
And now I'm weeping turquoise tears
For the life with you I wanted to lead
If only you had known
That I was planning on coming back to you

Author's notes: Once upon a time, a young author dreamed that she had posted a poem, and hoped that somebody would share their opinion about it. Then the author woke up, and realized that she had never been asleep. Review, if you have something to say!
