A/n: CHANGED CHAPTER 6! The kissing thing didn’t work for me. So, if you don’t want to look back and read it again, they just leave Kacie standing there instead of kissing. Now, onto this chapter!

“Ugh!” Tara screamed, whipping a shirt off and throwing it in the growing pile on top of her bed. She moved back to her closet and continued looking for something to wear.

“Tara, what’s going on?” Jackie asked through Tara’s door.

“Nothing,” Tara sighed. “You can come in if you want.”

Jackie opened the door and peeked her head in.

“Got enough clothes?” Jackie teased.

“No,” Tara muttered angrily, unaware of her sister’s joke.

“Hey, what’s going on? Are you going somewhere?”

“I have a date,” Tara explained.

“Oooh! With who?”

“Um…” Tara turned around and looked at her sister. “With Ryan.”

“Seriously? You are finally going out on a date?”

“Finally?” Tara wondered.

“I thought he might have a crush on you when you brought him over.” Jackie answered.

“I really doubt that!” Tara laughed. “But you don’t mind?”

“As much as I wish we were still together, I’m with Zach now. I think you two would make a really cute couple.” Jackie walked over to her sister and gave her a hug. “Be careful and try to have fun.”

“I’m really loving this sentimental moment, Jacks,” Tara spoke up, “but I need to get ready. He’s gonna be here in 15 minutes.”

“Oh, gosh!” Jackie exclaimed. “You pick out an outfit, and I’ll go get a curling iron ready and your make up.”

“Curling iron?” Tara asked in horror. She had never curled her hair.

“Yes. You need to do something different. Now, let’s go!” Jackie bustled out of the room without a glance back. Tara sighed and shook her head. With the way her sister did makeovers, she wasn’t sure she was going to get out of this alive.

“See, you look adorable!” Jackie exclaimed, turning her sister around in the desk chair they had pulled in front of the mirror.

Tara leaned forward to examine herself closer. She had to admit, she did look pretty. Her black hair fell across her shoulders in soft curls, a simple but elegant look. Silver eye shadow shimmered above her eyes, bringing out the blue more than ever.

“Thanks,” Tara said to her sister with a wide smile. She stood up and fidgeted with the denim skirt she was wearing. “Do I really have to wear a skirt?”

“Yes! You look more sophisticated that way.” The doorbell downstairs rang, and Tara’s heart jumped. “Go, you look terrific.”

Tara slowly made her way out of her room and down the hallway to the front door. Was she ready for this? Could she go through with a date with the father of her sister’s baby and the guy who had made her life miserable?

Brooke put her hand on the doorknob. She turned it, but didn’t pull the door fully open yet. Fear swept through her body, and she let the doorknob go and stepped away from it.

“I can’t do this,” Tara whispered. Ryan had never told her if he had broken up with Kacie. They may be still together. Mike might show up and make things worse. Would Ryan defend her, like he had with Kacie?

What am I getting myself in to?

Ryan pulled into Tara’s driveway and turned off the engine. He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. Mike’s words from earlier on the phone rang in his ear.

‘Remember, you need to make this as miserable as possible. A few of us are gonna show up at the restaurant to watch. Then, start it up with the nicknames and anything else you can think of. Bring up the dare even, and tell her you’re still with Kacie. It’ll be a night she never forgets.’

Ryan’s stomach twisted into knots. Did he really want to do that to Tara? Was his conscious telling him it was wrong and he shouldn’t go through with it? Ryan was so confused he was just waiting for an angel and a devil to pop up on his shoulders.

Ryan shook his head, trying to clear it. He grabbed the flowers out of the seat next to him and climbed out of the car.

He took his time walking up the sidewalk to the front door, thoughts still running through this head. What did he really feel about Tara? Would this turn into something more? Would he get so attached he broke up with Kacie? Could he break up with Kacie?

Ryan held his finger in front of the doorbell, still deciding whether to push it or not. Would she hate him forever if he let Mike show up? What would they really do to make this ‘a night she would never forget’?

Ryan pushed the doorbell, his mind made up. He knew what he was going to do, but inside, his stomach was still churning.

What am I getting myself in to?

Tara opened the door to see a smiling Ryan with flowers in his hand.

“Oh, wow!” Tara gasped. “You didn’t need to get me flowers!” She took them out of his hand and smelled them. “They’re great. Let me go put them in water, then we can go. Come in for a sec.”

Ryan stepped into the house as Tara walked back to the kitchen and deposited the flowers in a vase. She smelled them once again, then went back to the front and told Ryan she was ready to leave.

The whole way to the restaurant, there was silence. Both Tara and Ryan opened their mouths, trying to think of something to say, but it always died on their lips.

“Well, we’re here,” Ryan spoke up, turning off the engine.

“I like this place,” Tara told him with a smile.

They both got out and walked inside. They were taken to their seats and looked through their menus. Once again, conversation was light. Once their food and drinks were ordered. Tara began to ask a little about him.

Soon they were in a full-fledged conversation. They barley noticed when the waiter came with their food. They were able to talk all night, and no one interrupted them. It was definitely a night neither of them would ever forget.

A/n: Tee hee :) I like my creativity. If you didn’t catch it, Ryan took Tara to a different restaurant so Mike wouldn’t show up. Plz review and let me hear your opinion!
