“Eillek!” someone yelled over the hill. Eilleck Nilerd looked down, almost falling out of the tree as she did, as her best friends, Ylime and Azil ran toward her.
“Hi guys!” she said happily. They just looked at her as she swayed back and forth in the tree.
“Have you had sugar?” Ylime finally asked.
“Yep!” was the happy reply.
“Oh god,”Azil muttered, turning away. Eilleck just grinned at her, and attempted to climb down, but ended up on her back. Ylime helped her up, and Eillek promptly started running around the hill.
“Has she had caffeine?” someone else yelled. Three other elves, Inda, Haras, and Yroc were walking toward them.
“That's a stupid question,” Haras muttered, “She always has caffeine,”
“Actually, I had sugar!” Eillek said as she sped past them.
“Same difference,” Haras said, “It still makes you hyper,”
“Actually, she's always hyper!” Inda said brightly. Yroc, Azil, and Haras just glared at her.
“Well, this is too hyper for me. I'm going to go ride horsies!” Yroc declared, and walked back down the hill. Azil shook her head, muttering, “Mental,” under her breath. Haras glare was aimed at her now.
“Yo, whas up my homies?” A boy was walking toward them now.
“BOYFRIEND!!!!” Eillek yelled, rushing toward him now. Haras move over to talk to Ylime.
“What are the odds of getting her to calm down?” Haras muttered.
“About a million to one,” Ylime said darkly, watching her friend squeeze Mas to death.
“Hey Eillek,” Mas said brightly, as the elf wrapped her arms around his middle and squeezed.
“Hello Massy!” she replied. Azil rolled her eyes and walked away, shaking her head and muttering, “Idiot,” Haras glared at her again.
“Why do you feel that you must criticize everyone in the entire world?” the aqua elf asked.
Azil shrugged. Ylime joined Haras in glaring.
They looked up to see Eillek dragging Mas toward them again. He didn't look as cheerful as he had.
“What's wrong?” Haras asked, stunned that he was capable of being serious.
“Chonmrid is under attack,” he said quietly.
It was obvious to all present that Eillek had no idea what he was talking about. She was still swinging on his arm.
“Eillek,” Ylime said blankly, “Do you know what he just said?”
Eillek shook her head.
“It means we're going to war,” Inda told her quietly.
Eillek knew what that meant. She looked from one face to another, obviously hoping for this to be a cruel joke. But she was sadly disappointed.
“War?” she said quietly. They all nodded.
“And everyone who can has to fight,” Mas said, “And we're all on the list.”
“Is Yroc?” Haras asked.
“For her riding skills,”
Inda was looking very confused.
“What did I get on for?” she asked, completely bewildered.
“Um... they seem to think that if you can play tennis, you can sword-fight,” Mas said. “Haras is horseback riding with arrows, same as Yroc. Azil, Ylime, Inda, and I are using swords. And Eillek is using the bow and arrows.”
“YAY!” Eillek shouted suddenly, which confused everyone, as she DID understand what ‘war' meant.
“Why are you happy?” Azil asked.
“I'm using bows and arrows!” Eillek said brightly, and promptly went skipping , straight into the tree.
