A/N: A poem I just wrote about 9/11. So it's a few years too late. Maybe it just took me that long to get my thoughts in order.
9/11 Day
Everyone is screaming.
They're crying to the heavens.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my friend has gone?
Everyone is praying.
Their hands are clasped together.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my son has gone?
Everyone is listening.
Their radios are all turned on.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my daughter's gone?
Everyone is talking
They're telling all the news.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my husband's gone?
Everyone is watching.
They're seeing it on the news.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my wife has gone?
Everyone is waiting
They're sitting all lost and confused.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my neighbor's gone?
Everyone is buzzing.
They're gossiping up the wazoo.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my grandchildren have gone?
Everyone is crying.
They're crying on the shoulders of strangers.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my brother has gone?
Everyone is staring.
They all seem to be misunderstanding.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my sister has gone?
Everyone is helping.
They might not even know who they are.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my mother has gone?
Everyone seems to be silenced
Their hearts seem to have stopped today.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my father has gone?
Everybody is running.
The chaos of hell came today.
What is happening?
What is going on?
Won't anybody tell me
Where my family has gone?
Everybody is lost.
They don't know what to say.
They don't know how to tell me
What's happened this 9/11 Day.
