Author's note:I've been going through a lot of junk lately thanks to college, the usual teen angst stuff and just general old bad luck. This was inspired by the Hanson song "Broken Angels" from their new Album "Underneath." "Little one's broken lying on the ground/trying to get up til his last breath's out/ Wings are strewn everywhere, there's blood all around/Cause even angels die but that light just fades/ It's so sad but he'd be so proud/Broken angel you've got to learn to fly/Get up and earn your wings tonight/" Hanson, Broken Angel.

Shattered Mirror

Twist and run through the dark cloudy night
With no stars or moon to light your way home
She wants to spread her wings and fly but
Her wings have been broken
She wants to go home, but she's lost in confusion
Look into the mirror and tell me, what do you see?
The broken wings of a lonely girl reflected in the shards

Her dreams are broken and lying on the ground
She can't get up and fly away from all this
Bound by iron chains that are slowly stealing her freedom
Being crushed under the weight of despair
Her soul is a broken mirror and all she sees is
The bound wings of a lonely girl reflected in the shards

No one is there to heal her wings or spirit
Those painful glass shards are piercing her inside
She never knew that even angels die from a shattered spirit
All she wants to do is to take these wings and fly free
At night she hears the songs of the broken angels
Urging her to not give up hope
Still, she says in response to them
Look into the mirror and tell me, what do you see?
The broken wings of a lonely girl reflected in the shards
