A/N: well, this is a short beginning, but this will hopefully be a full story. This may seem a little slow at the beginning, but stick with me! I promise it will pick up. Well, review!

------------------
She was in an unknown place, hidden in some bushes. From her spot, she was observing a ring of fire. Around it danced a man. He was chanting something. She strained to here his words.
“Amo Mueto Tudo Issu.”
He was repeating, over and over. For some reason, the sight intrigued her. Sucked in. the sight drew her in close. As he turned, his eyes locked with hers. He was exceptionally tall, wearing only a loincloth. His black hair was matted and reached down to his shoulders, his face illuminated by the firelight. Panic seized her as he looked at her. Images flashed before her eyes, as if brought on by the strange tribal man. A house, 2 stories and well taken care of was the first image. Then an empty field, marked only by the mountain range in the distance. The smell of death flowed through her nose; someone had died here. Suddenly she was back at the fire. The man was advancing slowly toward her. She wanted to run, she needed to run, but she couldn’t. He was almost on her, still chanting
“Amo Mueto Tudo Issu Amo Mueto Tudo Issu” she was going to die, but there was something else, she needed to know before she died.
Kate sat up in her bed with start. Her hair was matted with sweat, she was gasping for breath. She took a deep breath as she mentally steadied herself. She looked over at the small clock that sat on her bedside table and groaned. It was only 3:30. There was no way she would get back to sleep after that dream.
That dream.
Kate had had bad dreams before, weird dreams, everyone had them. But there was something about those images- something deeply disturbing yet strangely intriguing. She switched on her small lamp and swung herself out of the bed.
She walked over to the laptop the sat on her wooden desk and quickly signed on. Maybe she could find out what her dream meant.
“Amo Mueto Tudo Issu” she typed into the high-speed search engine. She sat back as the results loaded.
“Oh my gosh!” she gasped, looking at the results. She quickly clicked on a link and sat back, reading yet not believing what the words read.
“An ancient civilizations chant. It is thought by some that this civilization was around millions of years ago. There is no solid evidence to support this claim.”
“We never learned about that. How would I know it?” she wondered to herself as she shutdown her computer and climbed back into bed, hoping for a few more hours of sleep before she had to get ready for class.
---------------------
Kate never intended to take this class. Actually, it had been more of just an extra thing to do. She never in a million years thought she would enjoy learning about ancient history and artifacts.
She did not look like the type of person you would expect to see studying this. She was small, only standing at 5’3. Her dirty blonde hair brushed a little past her shoulders, and was often messily pinned back. She wasn’t stick thin, but more muscular. Although she really couldn’t be categorized as a drop-dead beauty, she was definitely attractive. But her most notable feature was her eyes. A deep grayish blue, they were absolutely stunning. Kate was a modest person, but she always prided herself on her large blue eyes.
On that morning, those eyes happened to be drooping as she struggled to stay awake as her professor lectured the class. She pinched herself, willing herself to pay attention. When the bell rang though, she didn’t head back to her dorm. Instead, she walked up to the professor.
“Hey professor, I have a question.” He looked at her.
“Yes?”
“What do you know about the Meilyn culture?”
“I don’t believe in that nonsense. It’s a myth, a fable. Why do you ask?”
“No reason.” She said, a slight blush coloring her cheeks. She thanked him and walked back to her dorm. She tried desperately to forget the whole dream, and almost succeeded. She would have, if not for the events that took place the following week.
---------------------------
--ONE WEEK LATER—
As Kate walked past her professor’s office, she heard voices talking loudly. Curious, looked through the open door.
“Nonsense. You want what?”
“I want to go looking for the lost culture of Meilyn. I think it’s out there! I know I can find it. I just need some funding and a crew.”
“Dan, you’re a sensible man. Think about it, there is no solid evidence supporting the preposterous claims! It would never work, and you wouldn’t even know the first place to look. And then there’s funding and crews.”
“I know someone who says if I can get a crew and a plan, they might help fund me. Please, let me talk to them.”
“Dan, I am sorry, I just can’t agree.” Kate peered in the open door. Talking to her professor was a man she had never seen before. She was sure of that, for she would have remembered someone as good looking as the man “Dan” was. His brown hair was cut short and naturally highlighted from the sun. His tanned body was well built, his looks rugged and sexy as can be. She cleared her throat to announce her presence.
“Um, hi. I couldn’t help but overhear your conversation outside.” She said softly, still glancing over at the new man.
“Kate, please, it is none of your business.” Her professor interrupted, glaring at the girl.
“But it is my business. I would like to go.”
