Amelia

This chapter is dedicated to YIN CAMUI, for reviewing this story THANKYOU!! (Now for the rest of you, the review button is in the bottom left-hand corner.. and I'll thankyou up here next! lol )

Twirling my hair around my pinky finger carefully studying the sidewalk I wwalked on had become a habit on my daily walk to work, not one I picked up, but rather one I've had since I was a little girl. You see I've never been the most confident child and now, finally an adult; those traits seem to have followed me, only increasing with age. I want to change- don't we all? But changing is harder than it looks ok? Slowly I dragged my feet up to my cubicle, I was a writer and now I'm reduced to this? I've published four novels! How can they expect me to write jingles? Sighing to myself, I sat down at the desk and pulled my laptop out of my brief case. This was going to be a long day.

Carefully I placed my fingers on the keys of my keyboard and set about typing, if I worked on a story instead of the stupid jingle they wanted; how would they know? I'm surely not going to tell them that I finished writting it last week or that they've been paying me to just sit here and work on my story ever since. To tell them that would almost be laughable. Then again I wouldn't be the one laughing, they would as they fired me and I collected my things. I really do hate all this jibberish, I'm 23 years old and I've got a desk job. A DESK JOB. It's almost pathetic, since I was a child I've had dreams about how my life was going to be. This definetly wasn't it.

My telephone rang on my desk and I let it ring twice before picking up the receiver (you know to make it look like I was enthralled in writting their 'jingle') only to hear my boss bellow on the other end, "Pack up your things. You're fired, you're taking way to long to write that jingle." Laughing to myself, I answered, "I've been done for a while, I was just waiting for you to call me into your office to get it. But I guess since I'm fired I can just run it through the paper shredder then?" The voice of her boss answered through the earpiece, "No no no, give it to me first, I'll give you a parting bonus of 1, 000 if you do." Smirking, I answered, "Just a thousand? Make it two and I'll be out of your hair. I know how much you need this jingle." The crabby voice of her boss answered harshly through the phone, "Fine, I'm writting the check right now." Smiling, I answered, "Good I'll be in your office in a second then."
