Those Little Things

19 April 2008
Headingley, England

a little bit of honey in that first
cup of coffee in the morning is good ;
though sometimes it takes a second teaspoon
for i’m not up for too much bitterness ;

all muscles ache and bones just seem to creak
with laziness of staying in their joints,
as if there were not things to do this day
places to see and thoughts to ponder on :—

but it’s that ‘thinking’ puts me in a funk :—
of man and his squalid petty dwellings,
where no consensus on what’s good exists
and every action brings on re-action ;

o what the Hell, i’m no messiah pure
to think that my little additions make
even the tiniest of difference ;
and yet, even a little bit of sweet . . .
