Behind Your Walls
By Ian Osmond
You wrap yourself in thoughtful veils
You cloud yourself in strong ideals,
You've clothed yourself as a maiden warrior
A crusader of your time;
Many masks you have worn for the world
But your heart is still known by mine.
Always looking for your escape,
Never happy with what's around you;
Rushing to be older
Rushing to know more
The path of age moves too slowly,
You don't wish to walk down that same road.
So take on the form of apathy,
Take on the form of revolution;
Your fortress has walls built up
Painted to give new perception;
Of maturity
Of higher thinking
Yet these walls hide the city inside,
Whose streets I've seen and known.
I know you and I love you,
You can't hide your true self from me.
