The Cheerleader:
I have a special powder-concealer
I keep atop my bureau
And when I want to go outside,
I’m sure to use some.
Sometimes I wonder what would happen
If one day I were to go away
And speak to those “close” to me
Without my outside-face
And red-painted grin.
I think on it, and ponder it,
And in the end, don’t answer.
For I am more afraid
To go out one day without, to show my fragmented soul, than
Any make-up induced skin cancer.
