The Wedding
Tears flowed freely from their eyes on this day, glinting in the sunlight that poured over the beautiful outdoor scene. Birds chirped happily, setting an overtone for the music already being played at the outdoor ceremony... a scene of eternal unity about to take place.
The groom was already waiting in his designated place, dressed in his finest suit and peacefully anticipating his angelic love, the monks and a priest standing beside him. A small blonde girl in a lacy dress tossed flower petals down the grassy aisle, while the bride’s mother finally broke down, sobbing into her hands. She was not alone, many of these wedding guests also dabbed at their eyes with kerchiefs and attempted to clear their reddened eyes. Never had there been a day so beautiful.
And with a change in the music, the bride made herself known. Her expression serene, she was bathed in bright light like an angel descending from the heavens, her blonde hair shining as if it were made from threads of the purest gold. Even her father’s eyes were watery as he led her. A more perfect bride couldn’t exist, in her hands were just the right amount of crimson roses, and the perfect white she was clothed in radiated enlightenment and purity.
Slowly, gracefully she was led to the altar where the couple would become one in eternity. The priest bowed his head, making several blessings to the perfect love, and emotion swelled in the crowd, the bride’s mother almost swooning in a rush of feeling. Their ‘Together Forever’ was carved in stone between them, it was a magnificent union that no one would dare to challenge. And when the priest made his final blessings, two of the wedding guests stood and released, from cages in their arms, two doves that flew into the sky, their paths intertwining as they playfully brushed wings, imitating the soft kisses of lovers.
From the beginning their love was meant to be, everyone knew it.
Quand tu me regardes dans les yeux, je ne veux jamais te quitter. Je veux passer ma vie entière avec toi.
And when they had found each other’s hearts, everyone rejoiced. Love so genuine, love so true, could only come from each other for them. Objection was not an option.
And now they were one. In eternity.
“Not alone”, the angel said. “Don’t worry... your time will come...”
It is highly unusual, to conduct a wedding ceremony in black. One by one the wedding guests filed past the coffin to pay their respects and give her their wedding blessings, before the bride was lowered into the earth to be forever wedded with her groom, a small, yet ornamental stone plaque between the two gravestones reading “Ensemble pour Toujours” or ‘together forever’.
And as they died together, they shall live on together, in paradise, for all of eternity. Forever able to find solace in one another’s arms, strength in one another’s touch and confidence in their kind words they exchanged.
More beautiful in death than in life. They had proposed as they felt their lives seeping from them. Their exchange of vows given in their final breaths.
Only to be wedded
In the grip of the madman’s will
In the cold earth
Staying constant, feelings lost to the skies
And never
Parting from his one true love.
Finding their perfect peace.
