Preface to Humor—Humor, Collected Poems
As with most things—humor (and its Spanish cognate humor) are in the eye of the beholder and are often very context and atmosphere depended. In general just about everything we do has an ironic twist to it, or a comic sparkle to it. I’m not a comic or humorist; or, even a satirist or cynic—but, I see the funny side of life in all our quirky doings and in the workings of impersonal universe.
Laughter’s a nervous reflex; and, what brings it on can be diverse. I’ll avoid scatological (though not eschatological) topics. And, frankly I’ll admit that in keeping the content generally PC, these poems will most likely provoke a wry grin and not riotous mirth. But, even a grin, though not quite as beneficial as a laugh, if it paints a smile is good for the heart—and, certainly beats a droll frown.
The postings are in no particular order—enjoy.
