As you age, you forget all your previous problems.
As you age, you forget past affairs.
As you age, you don’t quite remember the horrors in your past
And wonder why you’re receiving so many odd stares.

As you age, the people around you are stricter.
As you age, people’s tolerance goes down the drain
As you age, you see how dull and the same each day is
And you wish to be that excited child again.

As you age, you forget how you felt as a child.
As you age, you feel older and greyer than ever.
As you age, all that empathy you should have is gone,
And the kids wish you’d be sympathetic forever.

But as you age, you change a lot.
As you age, you not only grow taller and wider,
But eventually that would-be glossy hair is grey, and
You wish to have your youth again and drown your sorrows in cider.

As you age, your children feel alone
They think their parents are so touchy and uncool.
They don’t realize that you were that kid once,
Worrying what people thought of you at school.

As you age, you see life from a new perspective:
You’re no longer that kid saying how they treat you is bad;
You’re eventually that old woman or man telling you that
The youth of today are wild and running mad.

As you age, your kids wish they were older,
So that they could stand up tall, object, and then
They spend their time wishing they were in your shoes,
While you spend yours wishing to be to them once again.
