Why can't you knock on my door?

When you hear me crying

In incredible pain

The sobs

The way I suck in air

Trying desperately to find my breath

That's when I hear your footsteps

Walking nonchalantly by my door

Are you afraid to open it?

See what's inside

The agonizing look on my face

As I try to beast this

The gasping between screams

Thrashing my body against the bed

My head buried in a sea of pillows

Mascara stained cheeks

That you choose to ignore

But only when I quiet down

And there isn't anymore screams or cries

Do you knock on my door

You ask

"Honey are you okay?"

The door meets your face

And the screams come alive again.
