Filled with floaty air

Attached to a tough white string

Tied around the little boy's wrist

Double knotted

He was so happy

Looking up at his floating red glory

As the sun reflected off its shiny rubber surface

He didn't notice the bully coming up

Or the metallic scissors

Shatter

His dreams broken

By a pair of scissors

Looking up in the sky

At his shining red glory

As it soared away

Sobbing

Crying

The red balloon floated away
