Scary Kerry
Two Weeks Later
The smell of summer was slowly beginning to fade on the breeze. She sighes and leans on the wooden banister of the pier more looking out at the lake water crashing on the sandy beach where little children play with their families. She has been on the pier for the last two weeks for hours on end hoping that Viktor's plan was going to work. He had explained to her that she was the one who he made contact, so he might try to again if she was alone and not with a human like before, and if she played up the part of a confused young woman who has just been turned who still had no real idea what she was and all that then maybe he would take her with him to where he's been hiding. Easer said than done, Layla thought to herself becoming more and more board every passing minute.
The week leading up to this Layla had to get into the frame of mind of how she felt when she first changed. She stopped the basic human things like bathing, combing her hair, contact with people, and even went as far as destroy a part of her house to make it look like she had transformed in her house as a wild beast to give the look that she was newly changed all over again. Layla knew this was her test to be major player in the Pack if she pulled this off, but she hated being away from everyone. The Zero contact was to make sure if she was being watched by Jacob he wouldn’t see her with any Pack members then he know it was a set up. She missed Dar more than ever and at times wished she had never signed herself up for this, but knew that she was the only one who could pull this off.
Another hour pasts and Layla was just about to call it quits when she caught the scent of a werewolf that she couldn’t quite identify that was near by that she quickly following the scent towards the alleyways behind the boardwalk farther away from crowds and closer to the woods. As she reached the end of the ally she came upon a plan white t-shirt that reeked of Jacobs scent all over it.Great a fake out, Layla thought hopelessly slowly bending over to pick up the shirt from the ground, but as she stood up she the sound feet hitting the ground on ether side of her made her jump a bit. She turned and face them quickly not recognizing ether of the two men, but knew that both men where werewolves by mere fact that no man could jump from a roof top and act like they were hopping over a tree root. Layla dropa the shirt from her hands and got into a fighting stance as a small growl from her throat in warning to the two men.
A laugh came from behind her as another set of feet hit the ground. “The little lady ready to fight us, what a surprise,” Jacobs’s voice said from behind her.
“I didn’t come here looking for a fight,” Layla told him truthfully, turning towards him. Jacob looked exactly like he did when she last saw him on that day on the pier, but this time he was standing in a pair of jeans with no shirt on, and for being an old man he was very muscularly ripped.
“Then why did you come?”
“I just had to know why you came up to me on that day on the pier.”
“Really?” He asked lifting an eye brow at her. “That was nearly a month ago.
“So you’ve been back here since then too? Layla asked shotting an eyebrow back at him.
Jacob grinned, “You still haven’t answered my question girly?”
Layla let the girly comment slide, “I just had to find out if there were others like...”
“Me,” Jacob’s grinned got wider as he stepped closer to Layla. He took Layla by the hands and made her look into his eyes. “If you trying to get at fact that I am a werewolves’ yes, that’s what we, are…and so are you.”
“No!” Layla shouts pulling her hands away acting as if she didn’t believe him and pulling on her own battles with Viktor she pulled up emotions from not to long ago. “I am not one of you…I am…I am…”
“Human? Is that what you think you are? Jacob laughs at her. “Because if that were true you wouldn’t have followed my scent here now would you?” He sniffed her hair taking her in, which sent a shiver of fear up Layla’s spine. “Your still so new aren’t you? What has it been three months?”
“Almost four now,” Layla starts to cry a bit letting her fear get the better part of her for the moment.
“Don’t cry my dear,” Jacob tilts her chin up causing her blink away her tears. “Jacob’s here to make everything all better.”
Layla cried harder pulling on her fears of the past up into her mind, and collapsed into Jacob’s arms. I’ve got him now. He pulls her closer to his bare chest comfort her. He nodds to one of his men who came up his side and jabbs a needle into Layla’s shoulder which caught her off guard, but before she could do anything her body fell limp and she slips into unconscious.
Jacob caught Layla around the waist with one hand and other hand cradling the back of her neck. “Quickly go get the truck,” Jacob orders the two men, who quickly ran off down the alleyway. He looks down at Layla’s face and brushes way a few strains of her long black hair then held her face for a moment in his hand and whispers, “My sweet Clare you’ve come back to me and this time it will be different. I have you and I am never letting you go.”
