Lillian’s Decision

It was no secret what the sweet talking Calyx and the kind hearted Maria did last night and it didn’t seem like they wanted it to be kept a secret either. Lillian’s whole way of life was just swept off balance just because some noble and entirely weak male decides that he wants her only friend to be his lover. Lillian sat at the table quietly as she placed another spoon full of cereal into her mouth as she thought over the past couples of weeks that he has been flying with them. She knew that Calyx wasn’t a bad person but he kept Maria and himself occupied far too much for her liking and soon she knew that the question, or demand (depending on how brave Calyx was feeling that day), would come up soon.

“Speak of the devil,” she thought to herself as he came into the kitchen while drying his hair of then placing the pale yellow towel around his neck loosely before sitting down opposite to her. They were both sat there quietly, Lillian not even wanting to see his face as a smug grin appeared on his face.

“Captain.. Lillian..” he began when she looked up at him while portraying no emotion, knowing what was coming.

“I’m taking Maria and we’re.. Getting off at the next port. We wasn’t to start a life together,” he said when Lillian nodded, running her tongue along the top of her teeth before slipping it in-between her teeth for a couple of seconds to stop what she was about to say. She tapped her spoon on the side of her bowl a couple of times before looking up at him curiously.

“And has she agreed to this?” Lillian asked when he nodded once, her noticing that he was holding his breath in hope. She sighed and looked back down at her cereal and dug her spoon back in, pulling more of the sugary and cinnamon squares out.

“If you want to go then don’t let me stand in your way,” she replied before placing the spoonful in her mouth and chewing it roughly. Calyx jumped up, smiling broadly and placing his hand on her happily.

“Thank you, Captain!” he said cheerfully before he left the kitchen, running down the metal hallway while calling Maria’s name. Lillian sighed and shook her head before running her claws through her hair before she continues to eat.

Lillian stood on the star deck on the top part of her ship which sat just down the hall from their bedrooms. She leaned on the metal bars heavily while remaining silent, her watching the small lights twinkle brightly. She could feel the ship shake a bit as they entered the atmosphere. She sighed softly and got to her feet, her metal palms sitting on the bar while her long claws wrapped around it.

“Uhm..” Maria said as she stood in the door way and watched Lillian with guilt. Her presence made Lillian’s grip tighten as she slowly rose up.

“Yes..?” she asked when Maria fell silent, her slowly coming into the room and standing beside her.

“I.. I’m going to miss you. Is my leaving.. Ok?” she asked curiously as she looked out at the stars nervously. Lillian growled and turned to her, grapping her tightly.

“If it really mattered to you what I thought then you would’ve said something to me before!” she yelled before Maria’s sank to the ground, her placing some of her long, curly black hair behind her ears as usual. Lillian felt the impact of their landing and boarding.

“We had something.. But if you’re willing to give it up that easily for some guy.. Then so am I,” Lillian replied before throwing her away from her and walking out of the room angrily. Maria watched her leave and slowly followed after her.

Lillian stormed out of the room and ran into Calyx who was trying to carry both his and Maria’s luggage out. He smiled towards her nervously, seeing that she was in a bad mood.

“Hey Lillian,” he said, the fear ringing through his voice and it sickening her.

“Hey Calyx! Having trouble with you guy’s luggage?” Lillian asked sarcastically when he shook his head and went to speak once again when she cut him off angrily and reached down towards the last four suitcases.

“Here, let me help you,” She said before lifting them up and dropping them down the small hole which lead to the other, lower level. Calyx fell silent and watched as she slid down the ladder and then picked them back up and stormed over towards the door. Both Calyx and Maria followed her quickly, Calyx slipping out the door before Lillian got there because Maria continued to try and calm her down. Lillian looked from Maria to Calyx and then threw their luggage out.

“Maria, have a nice life,” Lillian replied to all of her begging and pleading before she quickly got the feminine android out of her ship. She continued to watch as Maria ran into Calyx’s arms, her growling at the sight.

“I’ll miss you, Lillian,” Maria called out before Lillian slammed the door shut and wound it closed.

“Good luck,” Maria replied softly as she watched the ship take off quickly.
