Dearest, you’re the first snow of winter

Soft flakes fluttering onto the earth

Landing peacefully, creating beauty

Simple pleasure, instant harmony

A soft chill as they land on my tongue

Darling, you’re the heavy snowfall,

Engulfing the surface with cold powder

Falling from the heavens in such abundance

Intense and refreshing, you give me

A reason to stay warm by the fire

My love… you’re the snow in April

Lasting for so long, a snow that

Has become brown with mud

Wet and diminishing

A joy that is no longer cherished
