Face clad in a smile

Heart broken in two

See the glisten in my eye?

It’s not a twinkle,

It’s a tear-

One of the many

I cried for you.

“You’ll get over it”

Is what they said to me

Well, it’s been a while-

Is happy what I seem to be?

You left.

I stayed.

You were carefree-

I was the one who paid.

Living without you

Isn’t living at all

I tried to talk

But you never answer when I call

You told me you loved me

You told me that you would be there

To wipe the tears from my eyes

You told me you would never leave

I can’t believe I took your lies

I thought that you were the one

But I was soon proved wrong.

I didn’t know I would mourn

For this long

I sit awake at night

Wishing you were there

Just to see your face again

Just to run my fingers through your hair

I miss you

But I hope I never hear from you again

Seeing you

Would only stir the pain within.
