Heart Keeps in Parts

15 April 2008
Headingley, England

sometimes it is a little thing we keep
a hair lock or a picture or a shirt
that brings eyes’ loved one closer to red heart
endearing soul with a fixation's gaze

for it could be heart fears to lose in sleep
or sudden death interring love in dirt
causing loved one from love to sudden part
forever losing mystic kisses' daze

but with talisman a plenty i weep
for none seem magnet strong enough, just flirt
to cause love to impinge her sharpened dart
upon heart innocent illusion’s face
