Yesterday’s Rain
The rain was cold, so cold it chilled my soul
The frozen drops penetrated my skin:
Taking my warmth,
Sucking my emptiness,
Merging with my darkness.
I stood alone thinking.
Did you see me yesterday?
The rain was clean, so clean it gave me hope
Its icy cold fingers caressed my spirit:
Washing away the heavy sorrow,
Massaging sweet the lonesome bitterness,
Rinsing clear the murky confusion.
I frolicked in laughter.
Did you hear me yesterday?
