Part One: Alex’s Version

I told him to leave.

This state … this town … my world.

I told him to leave. My mind doesn’t work that way. I think I’m going insane. He held up my chin that night, and told me he’ll leave when the world ends. My world has ended. Does that count? I love him too much for him to leave. I hate him too much for him to leave. And then one day he left a note by my phone.

I’m leaving. I’m leaving tonight.

To make your life less

Of a living hell

There was a heart scribbled at the end.

I was sick that night. I was hacking up blood; which wasn’t really a pretty sight. I coughed and felt like someone was strangling me. My head was dizzy, and my hands were cold as ice. He told me he was leaving tonight. He won’t. I won’t let him. I will set things right.

As I grab the car keys I think of what has happened between us.

How one day I was walking to school when a boy decided to call me up, and told me to show him around, cause he was an exchange student from the UK. Bastard lured me in with his blue eyes. That ‘accidental’ kiss we had. How he had snuck into my room to throw spoiled sugar cookies at me for revenge when I stole his underwear. How we had spent a whole night staring up at the stars … and how he had betrayed me. How he dared betray me and laugh in my face about it. Our secrets were no more, and the stars had sad faces as we stopped seeing each other.

The ground is slippery. The engine is groaning. And my heart is burning.

I was too late. I watched as an ugly turquoise car we proclaimed was the Weasley’s drive off into the distance, as a sad boy was looking at the mirror, but didn’t notice the lonely girl chasing after him. My heart, it split in two pieces, and however how much I begged I didn’t get the other piece back.
