She Waits

She sits, alone and forgotten

On a shelf so high, that if she were to fall she would surely break

Shatter like glass, never to be repaired

Alone and collecting dust she waits

Waits for someone to notice her current state

Waits for someone to remember her, long since forgotten

She waits for me.

She shall continue to do so until I begin to think and remember

Remember the one who brought this butterfly-faced trinket into my life

Someone who I try to forget but cannot

As she waits, her heart breaks

But I care little for her heartache

And yet her pain is my pain, and shall be forevermore

She sits and waits

Waits for an eternity

She waits for me.
