Is It Really Worth It?

They say that love conquers all,

that it will cure any pain

I wonder…

What about cancer and AIDS?

What about poverty?

Love has done nothing to aid these causes

How then does love ‘cure any pain’?

This ‘enigma’ is not all it is boasted to be

Though they say it cures pain,

Love also causes pain

Sleepless nights of wondering

Paranoid glances in the mirror

Hours of self loathing after a misplaced comment

I ask,

Is it really worth it?

What’s the point?

All you’ll get out of ‘love’
