The Lenox family was a
happy one. There was a stay at home mom who did the house work and
took care of the kids. She was in a book club and was always baking
treats for both the club and her family. There was the father
who woke up early in the morning before the kids were awake and ate
breakfast with his wife then headed off to work and didn't come back
until it was time for dinner.
The father was the one in
charge of punishments the mother like to use the threats: "Just
wait until your father gets home!" and "Wait until your
father hears about this!"
Then there was Katherine or 'Kitty' as she liked to be called (although her Father always said "KATHERINE MARIE LENOX!" when she was in trouble), she was the eldest of the two Lenox sisters. She was 10 years old and in the fifth grade. She was a very happy preteen always wearing a plaid blue and green skirt, a white colored dress shirt and her favorite locket with a pictured of her and her sister in matching outfits.
Lastly but certainly not least was Karen Maria Lenox she went by 'Renny' and was only called her full name by her family and that was only when they were mad. She wore white tights and black dress shoes, she also wore a white colored dress shirt under a blue and green plaid dress. Around her neck was a locket identical to her sisters. She like her sister smiled a lot, however on this day she didn't smile. The four year old was very sick.
You see the Lenox family is the very root of the clichéd 'Perfect Family' like the ones you see on old TV shows. Only while this family always smiled they were never really happy. The 'Perfect Family' was very, very broken. The mother and father often fought late into the night keeping their two young daughters awake. Although the sisters didn't share a room they often slept in the same room, scared that the father would hit their mother or that one of the parents would come into their room grab one of them and leave the house never to be seen again.
When this broken family woke to fine their youngest daughter crying with a 105.5 (F) fever they seemed to be fixed or at least for the time being. Kitty was excused from school to accompany her family to the hospital and the mother and father held hands tightly afraid for Renny's life. They however were so worried about their youngest daughter they didn't notice their eldest daughter walk into the ICU room they had taken Renny into.
