Chapter 7: The Coming Threat

Kelseaanna watched her mate lovingly. Something dark made the smile on her face wash away. Something was up and she wasn't going to let it destroy the tranquility of the moment.
“Blaze?”
“Yes?”
“Do you feel it?”
“Yes Mistress.”
“Blaze...”
“Formal tone is not necessary I know but if the enemy believes that you are aware.”
“Hunt him up.”
“Gladly.”
Blaze backed up and vanished into the shadows quickly.
Jason sat down beside the small fish pond in his garden. Shadow laid a short distance away watching his companions closely. Skye cooed to her partner. Jason stroked her feathers. The peace is nice for once, he thought. It had been awhile since they had some peace together. Looking over his shoulder he watched his girlfriend. The wind tossed her hair. Her eyes were elsewhere until they met. Her eyes lit up with a smile. Her eyes seemed to say ?I love you.? Blaze was no where around. That made him wary. The unicorn stallion maybe Kelseaanna?s familiar but he was also a holy beast. As was she, but there was a difference. He loved Kelseaanna.
“You shouldn?t fear the white one,” a musical mind voice said quietly. “He only looks intimidating to protect his partner, nothing more.”
“He's still a bit scary.”
“Do not fear him,” a deep masculine voice said.
He looked over at Shadow. The gryphon blinked lazily and titled his head to the side. “To fear a unicorn or any other holy creature that's the worst thing to do. Now if Blaze were a dark unicorn then worry.”
“Dark unicorn?”
“Dark unicorns are characterized by angry colors but not always. Say for instance Kelseaanna, her color is black but her temperament is good.”
“And you?”
“In don't know I'm not here to protect...”
Shadow stood up suddenly and began to walk towards Jason. Something didn't feel right and it was making Shadow edgy. Jason felt something dark wash over him. Death seemed necessary now. He reached over where there was a shard of broken bottles. Taking up the biggest shard he slit his wrists. Blood spilled out onto the ground. The scent of his blood brought Kelseaanna barreling towards him. The demonic aura that surrounded her mate was pissing her off. Her form shifted into her black panther form. Her ears were laid back. A shifting of the shadows to her left made her see the demon there. She snarled as she switched directions and leapt forward to try and fight him.
“Ah, ah, ah Kelseaanna.”
He waved his hand making Jason move the glass shard to her throat. Kelseaanna warily stepped backwards. “I wouldn't if I were you,” he warned.
“Blaze back off,” she snarled. “Skye, Shadow you too.”
“That's a good girl.”
“Those threats won't restrain me for long.”
“When your restraint breaks your mate will die.”
“What is it that you want from us?”
“Not from you but something he has that my master wants.”
“And that is?”
“The Essence of Midnight. It's a stone that is needed to gain ultimate power by your mate activating it. You have three days to get it to us.”
“You'll pay for this,” she snarled as her eyes bled crimson.
“My master seeks the stone Jason. If you don't deliver it in three days be prepared to loose your mate and friends, and remember if you loose your mate then you loose your child.”
Jason jerked at that last statement. The demon made a slashing motion with his hands causing the vampire to cut his neck. He cried out in pain. The demon vanished with an evil laugh.
Jason staggered as he went to his knees. Blood was slowing down in it's trickling as his body healed itself. He groaned the blood lust was trying to break to the surface. Shadow stepped forward knowing that blood lust look. He beard his neck for his partner.
“Drink you need it and I am the only one here that isn't a holy creature.”
“Shadow I can't.”
“Do it!! She needs you.”
As carefully as possible he bit into the gryphon's neck drawing enough blood to sedate his hunger and not effect the gryphon in the least. Shadow shook himself as if that hadn't fazed him in the least.
“Are you all right Jason?” Kelseaanna asked quietly.
“I guess so.”
Her eyes returned to normal as she changed into her hanyou state. There was no away around it now he knew. She could fight as long as he didn't know but now he might go against her fighting any battle. That thought scared her, her entire family were fighters and it ran in her blood. Turning around she threw herself onto Blaze's back and they stormed off into the darkness.
Jason sighed heavily but didn't go after them. He did want anyone to suffer because of him, not again and least of all Kelseaanna and her unborn child. Going to his room he dug under it until he found a dusty old trunk with odd markings on it. Opening it up he pulled out the stone and wrapped it up. A sole determination stole over him as he left the mansion.

Kelseaanna and Blaze ended up near a small pond that was surrounded by weeping' willows.
“I remember this place,” Blaze said in surprise.
“It should be familiar this is where we first met and where you declared that you were my familiar.”
The stallion tossed his head in laughter. “Stay here I need to get something.”
From the back of the stallion she dove into the depths of the pool to search for something that she had hid there so long ago. The deeper she swam the stronger the aura of the object became. It was a stone of pure fire. She reached out an felt the familiar power of the ‘Angel's Fox Fire'. It had been so long. Once she touched it the fire like power ran through her like molten lead. The stone became a necklace that settled around her neck. Her dark wings spread and her energy was rejuvenated and she shot to the surface. Now she was ready to take on the world. She turned the stallion towards the impending fight once she was on his back.
“Come on Blaze let's go crash the party.”
“You bet.”
The stallion neighed a ferice challenge and changed into the woods.
