I saw Greg S. on Christmas Eve
I saw Greg S. on Christmas Eve
at the grocery store.
Simplicity
was that he looked the same,
the same
as that day
in that crowded room
when we all looked identical.
So far out
drugged out
and spaced out
on the long road that winded before us
and the rest
all applications
and financial aid forms.
I remember that by the time we all took the plunge
Owen was already forty grand in debt.
I saw Greg S. on Christmas Eve
at the grocery store
and it all came back
the stupid things
and
that little moments.
Like how
I had a crush on him when I was fourteen
for all of about five seconds
and his
"I want to ride you like a pony"
statements
all to
evident
in the fact
that at one point
everyone loved him
and then
like Ben and Jen
he disappeared from society-
Society being
the little groups of greeting cards
the:
"Like-oH-My-gOd-That-iS-So-Like-wow"
and
"GET-THE-FUCK-AWAY-FROM-ME's"
but hey
life is what it is I guess.
I saw Greg S. on Christmas Eve
at the grocery store
and avante-gardely
walked around
as he followed me.
Seeing me
I must look so different
from Greg S. perspective
and me no longer
fourteen helping him in History class.
How strange
that we all set out on lives that would commanded respect and singularity.
How strange
that we all find each other again sooner or later.
