Lessons Learned

I tried so hard to find that one thing

A love for me to belong to

I haven't found anything

Not even a glimpse of the future

For the answer to pop out and scare me

But it doesn't

A cold shadow of the me I once knew

A forgotten promise I told myself to keep

I'm tempted to give up

It would be so damn easy to do

But I can't

I have to keep looking

I won't rest until I know what could've been

And no matter how hard it may be
