The Desecrated Mansion

A hollow echo rings through
Rings through the hall
A huge mansion
Yet empty save a room

In this room he stands
Dejected, rejected and scorned
Kneeling in the room
Crying for his soul

Where did he go wrong?
What mistake did he make?
He does not understand
Educated, yet senseless in this regard

The huge mansion becomes a prison
From which there is no escape
He feels the walls closing in
The call of mistakes long past

His cries break the silence
Shouts of pain and guilt
Tears form a pool at his feet
He’s brought to his knees

He still knows not what he does
Naïve and yet blamed
Punished and yet innocent
Known and yet unwanted

He was cast out
Driven away
Left to lead a life of solitude
And eventual madness

Whispers are his friends
Hallow rings and shadows abound
Madness overtakes him
Floods his every being

Slowly he reaches for it
The end to his sadness
Cure for the madness
Point of foolishness

Soon they will understand
Soon they will acknowledge
Soon they will realize
Soon they will be forgotten
From dust he arose
To dust he returns
