Chapter One- A Rising Star

Terri Crystal Farr stared into the crowd, took a deep breath and let her hidden soul fly. No time to worry. No time to think. There’s no reason to be shy. She’s not Terri anymore. She’s Crystal.

Giving an award-winning smile to the crowd, Crystal step down from the brightly lighted stair way and onto the stage. Thousands of cameras flashed, taking the photo of a beautiful slim sixteen girl in her light blue fluffy sweater and her black jeans. Crystal stared into the crowd, scanning for her best friend, Marianne. Marianne, the only friend who knows about the Terri and Crystal thing, is whom Crystal depends. Only Marianne can help Crystal shine. Marianne watched Crystal smiled, watchedher from her special VIP seat, and gave Crystal thumbs-up. The lights dimmed, and the crowds grew silent.

The concert had just begun.

Stare at me, in the eyes,

And tell me what you see.

Cuz time is passing by,

Taking me along-

Tell me, oh-oh

Tell me.

Tell me what I want to hear.

You. Me

You know what this means.

So c'mon,

Just tell- it all-

Whisper the final phrase,

And don't think about breaking my heart.

You know what I want,

So just give me that.

I can't wait anymore-,

Cuz time is ticking by,

Soon I'll be forced to leave-.

And you'll be gone forever more-

Tell me, oh-oh

Tell me.

Tell me what I want to hear.

You. Me

You know what this means.

So c'mon,

Just tell it all whispered

Crystal, breathless from all the singing and dancing, slipped off-stage happily to find her manager.

At least it’s over! And to think of the honor, so young, and asked to perform first in the famous worldwide concert, where every famous singer/band is to perform once! Terri thought, and her stunning emerald eyes sparkled.

---------------------

“Wow!” Monica Garwood exclaimed as she stared onto the stage. Monica, popular in her school came to the concert because of her rich dad, stared wondrously at Crystal who finished her #1 song with triple back-flips, and ending with a spilt. Tuning in on her miniature TV in her VIP area, she glanced at the reporter onscreen.

“What a honor it is for Crystal to perform first in this worldwide concert! Crystal, a sixteen girl became a rising star. Her first album, Secrets Revealed, featuring her #1 song ‘Just Tell It All’, is a top selling CD. Crystal, a mysterious girl who just popped out of nowhere, grabbed the attention of the world, asked to perform in this famous concert, did it, and ended the song with a bang. Triple back-flips and a spilt, stunning after singing and dancing nonstop throughout the entire song. And not to mention how impressed everyone are, Jane Rose is offering her to start a fragrance line, CRYSTAL! Tune in to MTV at 4pm to hear an exclusive interview with Crystal. Now, the hot 17 years old cuties coming up the stage are the one and only James, Ray and Dan! This band, ‘Knights’, is tied with Crystal as the most favorite for teens. Welcome the ‘Knights’!” The reporter said, and Monica turned toward the stage. Not ready to miss what the ‘Knights’ are going to do.

---------------------

“TERRI!” A voice called out. Crystal turned around anxiously, and then smiled.

“Marianne! I warned you! I’m Crystal whenever I’m a star!” Crystal reminded and Marianne smiled, showing her apologizes.

“I’m so sorry Crystal! You were marvelous up there!!!!! Everyone was so in love. Especially Jane Rose! She’s staring a fragrance line for you!” Marianne whispered excitedly, and even Crystal got excited.

“Wow! Really?! That’s so cool!” Crystal asked joyfully, and both of them start jumping up and down.

“Ah-hem! Ah-hem! Girls!”

Crystal and Marianne turned toward Crystal’s manager and his wife and grinned. It was all thanks to both of them. Crystal’s manger, Richard Davies, and his wife, Winnie, they heard Terri singing to herself a few months ago in the mall and grabbed her to their boss. With the right sources, they found a recording company, Star, who love Terri’s voice and help her rise into a star. Only they, Marianne and Terri’s so-called family know about Crystal equals Terri.

“Richard! Winnie!” Crystal yipped, crushing both of them into a giant hug. Richard chuckled and patted Crystal’s light brown hair. Winnie pull Crystal far and look closely at her face.

“Crystal! You were great! Are you hurt? Tired? Dizzy?” Winnie asked worriedly and Crystal couldn’t help but feel a bit touched. Winnie is the closest thingy she have to a mom. Her step-mom is just plain evil and her dad doesn’t even realize she exists.

“Nope! Nope! Nope!” Crystal replied smiling.

“And Marianne! Haven’t seen you for quite a while!” Richard said in his booming voice and Marianne laughed.

“Yup! Went on vacation to Paris. Pretty cool!” Marianne answered, her blue eyes sparkling.

Marianne has the perfect family that Crystal admired, and the looks too. Marianne had beautiful blond hair and a cute personality, exactly what Crystal wants. Crystals thinks she looks ugly in her light brown hair and dark emerald eyes, but in fact, she’s stunning. Yet in order to keep her real side a secret, Crystal turn her hair darker, dark cafe brown and wear contacts that changed her eyes into a lighter shade, almost grayish, but more green, during her normal life time.

“Nice!” Richard replied. But before he could say more, a lady in black and gray suit hurried over in her white high-heels. A notepad in her left hand and a pen in her right hand, it is June, Crystal’s planner.

“Crystal! You’re due in the MTV reporters ‘ room in 2 minutes! And it’s all the way on first floor! Plus, you need to schedule a time today for Jane Rose about the fragrance line! Then…” June trailed off, and glanced at her watch.

“HURRY!” June yelled hurriedly and waving apologizes to Richard and Winnie, started to pull Crystal.

“I’m so sorry Mr. and Ms. Davis! But Crystal can’t be too late!” June called behind her and Crystal took the chance to pull Marianne along.

“Marianne. I want you along with me. Please! It’s my first time with reporters! You don’t even have to go on stage. All you have to wait in the crew place.” Crystal pleaded and Marianne smiled.

“Of course, what kind of friend do you think I am? I’ll go as long as I’m not on air.” Marianne answered and Crystal gave her a smile as the three of them hurried toward the reporters’ room.

---------------------

“Do you think that Crystal, or I should say, Terri, could survive this?” Winnie asked nervously

“Of course! She’s a headstrong girl! Just tune in and we shall see!” Richard comforted and both of them enter their lounge. Turning the channel to MTV, they both sat comfortably on the sofa and fixed their eyes at the TV.

“And now… Let’s welcome Crystal! We’re going to make this interview brief and simple. Just 10 minutes of your time, and not to waste the busy teen’s day! Hello! I’m Sabrina and you’re watching Celebrities 10. Just 10 minutes, and we’ll give you the stars!”

“Good afternoon Crystal! First of all, thank you for coming here.” The Sabrina reporter began with her good-nature smile.

“Good afternoon to you too. So what’s up?” Crystal replied politely.

“First of all, many of the fans wanted to know more about you. You’re a mystery to them! Are your songs based on real life?”

“Well…” Crystal pondered. “Not really. Some of them are real feelings, however those songs about boyfriends and relationships aren’t real. In fact, I don’t have any of that experiences.”

“And why is that? You are lesbian?” Sabrina asked suggestively and Crystal looks positively surprised and laughed.

“Me? Of course not! It’s just that no guys that capture my interest never show signs of liking me back… I have to admit I stay away from guys, I’m like a rose with thorns when it comes to guys.”

“Wow! That’s surprising news! Guess all the guys out there that wants your heart needs to beware.”

Crystal blushed.

“Anyway, would you give the world some hints on your whereabouts?” Sabrina asked hopefully.

“Certainly not! Very tricky, huh?” Crystal replied, giggling.

“Worth a try! I heard the famous Jane Rose is starting a fragrance line of you! What scent would you choose?”

“Well… I especially favored the scent of roses, strawberries, and raspberries. Kind of smoothing and sweet.”

“Thank you for this interview!”

“You’re welcome! And have a nice day!” Crystal said and left the set with Marianne.

“This is Sabrina from MTV’s Celebrities 10! Thank you for watching this show. Next would be our famous band, the ‘Knights’.”

---------------------

“Crystal. Marianne. Bad news.” Richard said gloomy as the two girls came back from the set and entered the room. Marianne glanced at Crystal and they both hurriedly sat down on the sofa in front of them.

“Okay. Begin.” Crystal replied placidly.

“Well… Crystal went on air; some fans want to know your whereabouts. So apparently your stepmother accidentally gave a few hints about your school for the cash. And they kind of found out your school.”

“Oh no! I knew she can’t be trusted!” Marianne exclaimed.

And so many of them are transferring there!” Winnie pointed out, and Crystal looked sick.

“Therefore the only solution is for both of you to transfer to a school that won’t let people not of their choice transfer and that means…” Richard said.

“Starling.” Crystal finished, her face set with nervousness.

“Yes. Starling High. And you guys knows what that means.” Winnie whispered.

“Of course! A high school for kids born of wealthy parents, or celebrity likes James or even anyone who got suggested by famous people. Everyone there is evil and mean. Distant even. But that’s not the only problem. How in the world are Crystal and I going to be accepted? Without anyone knowing Crystal’s identity?” Marianne asked, taking Crystal’s question into open.

“Richard and I have a plan ready. We already recommend both of you there. And Stratford had help. He’s the head of the company, Star. And it’s way important to the world. Starling had definitely accepted you girls.” Winnie said readily.

“Don’t worry Crystal. No one at the school knows about your identity. Not even the headmaster. So you can still be Terri.” Richard added.

“Thanks! When do we start the school?” Crystal asked worriedly.

“Tomorrow.” Winnie replied, answering the dreaded.
