Before Reading This (July 8th)- Please re-read the chapters before. I have edited it and might affect your thinking on this chapter.

Chapter Four- Changing

“Monica is acting really strange. Really really strange.” Marianne said to herself as she glanced toward the friendly couple. But then calmed down, knowly fully well that Monica couldn’t have figured out the truth.

Ray and Monica were directly in front of Marianne’s vision. Getting really friendly. Sitting in a loveseat, they are studying. But for the last ten minutes, the studying is escaping and they’re acting really comfy.

But then, its not like it’s going to hurt anyone of us, Marianne convinced herself, Terri don’t even like that guy.

---------------------------------

Terri and James are currently in James’s secret hiding place. And chatting. Yet soon, Terri realized that he wanted something.

“Okay. Spill it. What is it that you want?” Terri ordered and James smiled sheepishly.

“Well... I was kind of wondering about Crystal. You see... I’m handsome. She’s beautiful. So we’ll make a great match.” James begun. And Terri started giggling. He is just has such a huge ego.

“You want me to set you two up.” Terri stated flatly.

“Well. Yes...” James trailed off. His face pleading.

“Of course not. “ Terri said angrily, but then an idea popped into her head.

“Hmm... Let see. Okay, if I set Crystal and you on ONE SINGLE date, and only one. And imagine you managed to convince her into liking you and go out with you again. That’s great. But if she doesn’t like you, I won’t give you any more chances. However, you have to do something for me. Even if your chance didn’t work. You have to not be friendly with me. Ray, Dan and Monica can’t get close to me. Deal?” Terri asked.

“Deal.” James said confidently. Anyone would fall for my charms, he thought, and it’s really simple to not be her friend.

---------------------------------

Monica has to admit to herself that Terri is one strange and special girl. In two weeks time, she managed to secure Marianne and herself from Monica’s rage. Although Monica’s wonderful cunning plan lays useless, she isn’t unhappy. The plan meant careful planning, loyal followers, and might even gets her into deep trouble. But everything is perfect now. Terri and Marianne are lying low, evolving from popular to average classmates. Monica now has no rival.

But the plan isn’t going to the dump. It’s staying in her head, just in case.

---------------------------------

So far things are going pretty much uneventful. The Knights seems to be relaxing. James broke up with Monica, no surprises there. Yet when Ray got together with Monica stunned everyone. He was known to never pick up his friends’ ex. Other than that, everything went smoothly.

It was too peaceful. And everyone is expecting a huge bang soon. Sure enough, its happening the very next afternoon.

---------------------------------

“I can’t believe I’m really doing this!” Terri muttered and Marianne smiled.

“Just remember. It’s for our own good.” Marianne comforted.

The changing from Terri into Crystal is quite simple. She washed her hair until the dye comes off, make her hair is still the original wavy hair with gentle curls. She also took off her contacts, revealing her stunning green eyes. Putting on a plain dark green shirt and a pair of DKNY jean. She was ready.

---------------------------------

James pranced toward the arranged place. A small outdoor café, and at once he found her. Sitting calmly, deep into her book.

James was annoyed. He had expecting Crystal eagerly waiting for him! But there’s still time to charm her. He thought, smirking.

“My. My. What do I have here?” James said as he reached the table. Crystal looked up from ‘The Little Princess’ and glared. Then quickly became sweet.

“Hello James,” she said calmly.

“Hey.” James said, and ruffled his hair. Crystal rolled her eyes, and James smiled. A hard one, huh. But nothing to worry about. I met harder ones before.

---------------------------------

Okay. So far his attempts are not working. Crystal though gleefully.

Then out of nowhere, James pulled out a single red rose. It was his last attempt.

“Here, my princess.” James said with charm, handing the rose to her. “A beautiful thorn-less rose to a beautiful girl.”

For a second, Crystal smiled, a real meaningful smile. Red roses are her favorites! Crystal shook the thought off, he must have made a mistake somewhere.

“I’m sorry. I can’t accept this.” Crystal exclaimed, handing it back to him. “This rose is indeed beautiful and thorn-less. Yet if you give me this rose and I accepted, that would meant I am weak. A rose without thorns are helpless, since its defenses are gone. And I would not let that happen to me.”

James stared at her. Crystal almost giggles at the sight. His confused face is kind of cute. “I’m sorry James. This is not working.”

---------------------------------

James kicked a rock angrily.

How could Crystal not fall for my charms?! James thought, annoyed. She’s definitely not worth it. Why! Terri must know I would not win. That’s why she was so certain! She wants my pride to be hurt! Fine! If that’s what you want. Two can play the game!!

Putting on his black helmet, he jumped onto his flames-printed motorcycle. Transferring all his anger into energy, he speed off, not knowing that directly in his path a few miles away, stood Terri.

---------------------------------

Terri stood in the middle of the sideway, Staring. Maybe she had been too mean. Too harsh, maybe. She stood there, worried. Thinking. She didn’t even realized that it had slowly start to rain. After changing back into Terri, she had to go back to the school by herself. Since the car is due elsewhere. And she’s at lost on how to get back to the school.

I was mean. Evil. I tricked him! Terri thought sadly. That’s against my expectations!

Meanwhile James was speeding, he knew that. But its raining and he needs to get back to the school fast. Then he saw her.

Directly in his path, staring off into space, wet and shivering. No realizing the danger she’s in.

“Terri! MOVE!” James screamed, while he tried to stop in time. Terri looked up and stared. Terror in her eyes, frozen.

James panicked. He twisted away from the path and slammed into the tree. He quickly jumped out and checked the motorcycle. It was okay. Just scratched.

He glanced at Terri. Still shivering, wide-eyed, she looks so… innocent and sweet. Like a guilty child. James want to scream at her, yell, shake her! What was she doing standing here in the rain, drifting off?! Suddenly she sneezed, and he realized that she is getting a cold. No surprises, she wasn’t even wearing long sleeves!

“Here.” James said gruffly, not looking at her, handing her his leather jacket.

“Thanks.” Terri said softly as she watch James picked up the motorcycle.

“What are you doing!? Standing there?!” James yelled suddenly, and Terri jumped back.

“I’m just... thinking.” Terri said nervously, then realizing she’s acting weak, she retorted back. “And finding a way back to the school. I lost my ride! What were you doing? Speeding that fast?”

“I just want to get home before I’m soak!” James said annoyed. “Is that a crime?”

Terri glared at him. James put on his helmet, and found a red one. Handing it to Terri, he said without looking at her. “Wear it and hop on. You won’t want to get a cold.”

Terri, almost going to say that she doesn’t care, realized she had no other choices. There are no other ways to get back to the school.

Ignoring the feeling of protectiveness around Terri, he speed back to the school, with Terri’s arms around him. And James found out one important thing. Terri is afraid.

Showed another side of Terri. A much more weaker side. Another side of James too.

And sorry for the long wait and short update. Don’t worry, they aren’t getting together yet.

By the way! Please read my other story, 'Stupid Cupid'! Thanks!
