Chapter I

!#$&&$#!

JORDANNA

I stared lazily at my reflection in the glass windows. Smooth, fairly tanned skin free from the curse of acne, long, straight raven colored hair that reached to my hips, matched with deep blue orbs no longer hidden under glasses.

I had truly changed. Connor can never call me Skinny Bone Jones or any other characterizations of the sort. I wasn't the same skinny girl that left Ryverdale those two months ago. Nay, I changed, somewhat anyway...

I hated having the cheerleader figure. It's a wonder why girls wanted to be as skinny as I was, for I hated it. All clothes were either sizes too big or sizes too small and being as I don't like to shop in those girlie stores, or shopping in general, most of my clothes are way too big.

I used to be eighty-eight pounds, that was truly hell. Hell you ask? What's so good about being skinny anyway? You are more susceptible to getting sick, freezing to death, and you have no fat cushions. But don't worry, I am working on that problem. My parents gave me the choice to go wherever I wanted for the summer vacation as long as I stayed with family. Oh and just so you know, I have family everywhere. That's the good part of being a mix of so many different races. I am half Italian, one-eighth Puerto Rican, one-eighth Filipino, one-eighth Irish and one-eighth Cheyenne Indian. All of which like big families and like to be everywhere. My choices were from Ireland to Hawaii. I decided to stay with my Italian grandmother for the whole summer vacation. Let's just say Italy is awesome. But that is beside the point... I went to Italy because of the food. Awesome, awesome food.

I love my parents I really do, but they are health nuts. Salad, tofu, and steamed vegatables aren't exactly weight gaining types of havebeen surronded with meat and goodfood all their lives and they think it's bad for us...I blame the news but, bleh! But depriving my siblings and I of good food wasn't the worst part. Nope. Junk food is an illegal substance in my household. Do you think I'm kidding? I'm not kidding. Junk food is equivalent to drugs in my household. No joke. My cousin once visited and brought junk food with him, he has never visited since.

But being as I am a teenager I can't live without junk food. One sleepover at Connor's house and I was showed a different world full of hamburgers, chinese food, and the greatness known as pizza. Yum. My first taste of candy and I became an addict.

It felt good to have some weight, six pounds more to be exact. It may not be much but I don't really care, weight is weight. Most girls are trying to lose it but not me. Aren't I a little rebel? Haha. Okay, I'll stop with that now.

"Jordan!" a voice yelled out my name.

I swear, despite the time apart I could never forget the nuisance known as Bella.

"Oh wow! Italy did you good," Bella said with a smirk.

I really didn't want to bring up all the good memories only to be brought back to reality. "How was Ireland?" I countered.

Bella grinned. She was really to easy to sidetrack. It was a real wonder how we are twins...

"Irish guys are the hottest!" Bella shrieked with a grin promising much gossip.

I nodded and noticed my parents walking slowly towards me. I didn't speed up in step when I went to greet them. I loved them, but I am not much to show emotions and be sappy. They know that.

My mother was the first to hug me. My father isn't exactly the type to hug, more like the type to bark out orders, you see he's a Marine Drill Sergeant. The scary kind that makes grown men cry. A real pity because the man is built like a teddy bear and when his defences are down he is a real big teddy bear.

My brother raised an eyebrow and I was under scrutinized eyes. "You changed."

I grinned, that was the most of a compliment anyone could ever hope to get out of Eddie. "Yup."

Eddie smirked. "You missed out on the endless nights of Luau's in Hawaii," he mocked.

I shrugged trying to ignore him. I liked Hawaii as well, the water was perfect, the food was great , and people were the nicest. And our relatives there were my favorite.

"You missed out on the great Italian food," I whispered back.

"Edrick take your sister's bags," my father ordered.

I could see the annoyance in my brother's eyes but he complied and took my bags from me. I smiled in appreciation. My brother isn't exactly a submissive person, in actuality he hates my father. A lot. Both have very dominant personalities but since Eddie is the child and is far too loyal, Eddie has never said anything or done anything. But when the day comes when Eddie let's it all go, it'll be hell on earth.

"Jordan," Bella linked her arm through mine. She lifted her hand and pointed at her silver watch. A gift given to her from her boyfriend, Matthew. Or ex-boyfriend... I usually skim through her part of the letters from home, mostly because she usually only wrote about boys.

I knew that she wanted something but I was slightly tired and so I didn't catch on. "It's 12:01, what's your point?"

"Happy Birthday!" Bella exclaimed excitedly.

I was surprised. I forgot my own birthday. "Uh, you too," I responded.

ROWAN

!#$&&$#!

Women. Who the hell do they think they are? Why couldn't they just keep their legs closed? Whores.

I had to fall to my knees to keep myself from kicking something. I clenched my fists to keep myself from punching the ground above of my father's grave. If it wasn't for the whore, he wouldn't have died. I wouldn't be staring at my father's grave.

"Idiot."

Suicide was truly the easiest escape. If I didn't have to take care of my little brothers and sisters I would have shot myself a long time ago, or rather hanged myself. As much as I love blood and guts, I rather not go the same way as my father.

"Rowan?"

I didn't need to look up, I felt a hand on my shoulder. "I'm alright, Connor."

Connor. If it wasn't for him I would have seriously put holes on the ground. My half brother that I didn't know even existed until my father's suicide. He was just one year younger than me. Just one.

"Let's go."

Connor nodded. "Jordan is coming back to town."

Jordanna Rose. The only girl that wasn't a whore. Nay, she was a sarcastic, skinny little bitch that knew every way to get under my skin. Much, much, worse than being a whore.

"Your point being?"

"What? You don't miss your battle of wits with Jordan?"

Battle of wits? I scoffed.

I turned and stuffed my hands in my pockets. "I know that you are love sickened over her, little brother, but I am not. Nor will I ever be." I pulled my hood over my head.

"Oh come on Rowan you cannot tell me you haven't missed her. Whenever she comes over you would come out of your room and talk to her."

I groaned. "I always go out of my room for food when I am hungry, she's the one that starts talking to me. I don't talk to her. I make fun of her."

I had to make the mistake of meeting eye to eye with Connor. "Really?" Connor asked with a sarcastic smile.

"What are you trying to do?"

Connor shrugged and stuffed his hands into his pocket. "Being in a cemetary makes me depressed."

"You sure show it."

Connor chuckled. "Jordan and Bella's birthday is tommorrow. You should come."

I shook my head. "Why?"

"I need you to help me set up," Connor answered, "Please."

Jordanna. Bitch. I wasn't doing this for her. No. Never.

I nodded only because Connor was my brother and I was tied by blood to help his sorry ass. No one, especially a woman would make me ever break loyalty.

And that was how I ended up getting yelled at by a very annoyed Jordanna. Stupid Connor...

I manuevered myself to catch her cup of punch before she could pour it on my head. I didn't even spill it while fighting her off.

"Do you ever shut up!" she yelled at me.

I couldn't believe her. I was wrong about her. You would think that she would finally grow up mentally as she grew up physically.

"Listen, here you little--"

"Little what!" she exclaimed.

I didn't even know how I was going to end that sentence but I was pissed that she didn't let me even fumble with trying to finish my insult.

"Little..." Ah, nice fumble.

She rolled her eyes.

I hated it when she did that.

"That's it! Tell Connor I am going now."

"Whoopee..." she mocked already stalking away...

I glared at her. "Fine, I'll stay just to piss you OFF!"

She returned my glare. She wasn't wearing her glasses now and for some reason I found her more intimidating. Why hadn't I noticed those eyes of hers? She was wearing that eye make up crap wasn't she?

I stalked off to go to the backyard. I remembered the tree house Jordanna's father built, it was the ultimate escape from reality. I went back inside, took a liter of Coke and a box of pepperoni pizza. When I entered the room I looked around to glare at Jordanna but she was all ready gone. Good. I shrugged and continued on my way.

I put the food on the roof before climbing up. But of course there was Jordanna sitting there already eating my pizza before I could even pull myself all the way up to the roof.

"What are you doing?" I asked but I wasn't really surprised. She always went up here.

She continued eating the pizza.

"That's my food damn it!" I exclaimed reaching for the box.

She rolled her eyes and showed off a blanket.

"Food for warmth," she dealed.

I groaned. "Fine." I took the blanket and let her eat. How did she know I was cold?

I really should have worn a jacket...

"I miss this place. Can I have some Coke?"

I shrug. "Yeah. Whatever."

"How did you smuggle the junk food inside?" she asked.

"Back door. Your parents didn't know."

"Well, it is already eight. They do have to get up early in the morning."

I nodded, remembering her crazy war buff of a father. I liked the man, but he scared the hell out of me.

"You gained weight," I said breaking the silence as I reached over her for a pizza. I would have said something earlier but she never gave me the chance. I did notice how much she changed, I am not blind.

"I like food."

I laughed. "Spoken like a true glutton."

She took another bite of pizza.

"At least you don't look as pale as you used to," I said as a mock but the smirk in her lips made me uneasy.

"You sure have become nicer since I left."

She laughed. "That's pretty pathetic."

I nodded. "You try waking up at nine in the morning to set up your birthday party." And just so you know, I am usually still asleep until past noon. I need more than eight hours of sleep damn it!

"That's good."

I wanted to hurt her. I really did but I was also hungry and cold. If I tried anything, she would scream and Eddie would come to the rescue and kick my ass, err try to kick my ass. Despite being taller and bigger than me, Eddie's broad shoulders don't scare me. I am a boxer, I could easily kick his ass, but it's just the situation makes me back away. I'm not a chicken. Nope. But when I get angry, really angry I do damage. Ask the hole in my bedroom wall or the punching bag in the garage, what used to be a punching bag anyway.

"Go away."

"No."

"You go away."

"No."

"Fine."

"Fine."

"The food is here."

"Yeah."

And that was that. As much as I hate Jordanna, the food was there.
