Fooled

If you took the time to look, you’d see

That this smile isn’t backed with joy

My laughs are not heartfelt at all

Tears aren’t foreign to my eyes

This joyful look is painted on my face

Not unlike a clown’s

I am hoping that you will see

Past this cheery little girl

Past this fraudulent disguise

And straight into my heart

I want you to know all this is just an act

See that I am hurting

Help me heal

But I see that you are no different

You are just like all the rest
