English Translation
At Maira L. Dane’s prompting, I have translated this poem into English.
A Caveat: it doesn’t translate well. The original was more a play on the way Spanish verbs conjugate than any serious attempt to be expressive or poetic, so when you look at the meaning alone, it’s rather flat. The poem really does sound odd in English, but if anyone wants to take a look and try to guess the riddle—be my guest. (Hint: Thank you for your review, Cindy Moon, but no, it’s not God. ;). G.L.
I
The king of the sky.
I am air
I am earth
And ice.
And I take it.
I take care of the earth,
And I destroy it.
I am darkness
I’m gentle, and I’m rage.
I give fear, and I give consolation.
And no one can control me.
I’m lake
I’m river
I’m a water droplet.
I’m rock
I’m rain
I’m fog
And I am the only
The dominion is mine.
