Jwei Lih’s note: This is my first fiction ever so please go easy on me… I’ll develop the characters and plot one element at a time… so please don’t get annoyed when nothing makes sense at first… :) Onegai!
(by the way, I call my chapters element…)
element 1: Pepper, the Renegade…
Always dressed in black clothes and silver hoops, Pepper was every guy’s nightmare. With raven-black hair and icy blue eyes, she seemed to give the impression of absolute coolness and coldness.
She always said what was on her mind and landed herself in fist fights, more often than not, easily getting out unharmed. She daydreamt a lot and never paid much attention, but whenever her teachers ask her questions, she mysteriously gets the answers without breaking a sweat.
She seemed like the ultimate bully and rebel on the outside… but on the inside— she was scared to death at what might happen if the people saw how soft and lonely she really was… she was still a girl after all—
Pepper always walked to school…
Walked. Never ridden…
She used to watch in complete envy as her classmates’ cars and motorcycles zoom past her, not once slowing down to ask if she wanted a lift. She honestly didn’t blame them for avoiding her— hell, if she wasn’t herself… she would be avoiding her.
But there was always the flower shop…
Every morning, she passes by the flower shop and secretly admires God’s beautiful creations. Of course, she, Pepper Smith, would never be caught dead admiringRed Roses or the Cherry Blossoms that usually arrive during Thursdays… so she did this daily ritual as inconspicuously as possible.
She even spent her Saturday mornings “screwing around”— as she so gladly called it— which actually meant that she was finding homes for stray cats and dogs.
Not that she’d ever say anything to anyone about it.
She never even told a soul about how much of her allowance actually goes to the different shelters— for animals and humans alike.
She wanted people to keep believing that Pepper Smith was the worst girl in all of the land.
