Dallas woke in the middle of the night to find Aaron sitting at the foot of the bed strapping a gun to his ankle.
“You’re working tonight?”
“Yeah, you don’t mind do you?”
“Mind? It took me twenty minutes to talk my father into it.” She lay back again with her head in her arms.
“You talked your father into putting me back to work? Why?”
“There is nothing worse than living with an antsy hit man. With you it’s like living with ten antsy hit men. You don’t have a hobby do you?”
“I happen to like my job very much. Listen, I got to go now…”
“I know the drill, you’ll be back when you’re back so I won’t wait up. Just don’t be surprised if I’m not there when you come home.”
“You’re working this week too?”
“Hell yes. Now there is a car out front waiting for you.”
“Bye.” He leant over and kissed her before leaving.
When Aaron got home he found Dallas in one of the storage rooms. The room had been converted to her base of operations. There were maps tacked up on the walls as well as pictures of possible targets. She had various weapons and other equipment lying around as well as papers and books that would be used to plan a job. Currently she was typing away at her laptop.
“You’ve been busy.” She slammed her laptop shut and turned to face him.
“You’ve been gone a week, that must have been a messy job.”
“No, there was just a lot of waiting involved.”
“Uh huh, the house was too empty so I got a puppy.”
“You did what?” Just then a yapping little Pomeranian came running in, bumping into Aaron’s leg in the process.
“This little bitch is Magnum.” She said scooping the puppy up into her lap.
“You named the dog after a gun?”
“I could have named her Asshole after you but that would have been in poor taste.”
“Why are you so mean to me?”
“You just make it so easy.” He grabbed her hand and tugged her out her seat, leading her out of the room. “Are we gonna go fuck now or what?”
“If you insist.” There was a devilish grin on his face. He was half expecting her to smack him
“I think I do.” That stopped him dead in his tracks. Turning his head he saw a grin on her face he’d never seen before.
“Wait… Are you serious?”
“Quite.” They raced up the stairs stripping as they went.
For a moment, Dallas wasn’t quite sure where she was. The room was dark and she could see that the moon was high in the night sky through the open window. She didn’t know what woke her up but now she was wide-awake. To her left, Aaron was sound asleep. The sound of his gentle breathing was the only thing she could hear. She turned to get a good look at him. His expression was in neutral but she could tell he was relatively at peace. Her gaze woke him up because suddenly he was staring back at her. The peacefulness on his face turned to curiosity.
“What are you thinking about?”
“I bet it feels real good to be sleeping through the night again.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You sleep like a log. Every time I wake up you’re there snoring away.”
“I do not snore!”
“Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a little. I’m just saying you sleep more than you used to.”
“Well, maybe I just have a very boring bed partner.” She smacked him for that. “Ow! I guess I just feel safe knowing I have the infamous Blaze sleeping next to me. I don’t have to worry about anything happening.”
“Now I’m going to be up all night worrying that something is going to happen.”
“Nothing has ever happened here. I’m just really paranoid.” He pulled her into his arms, “Don’t worry, there’s no one in the world who can hurt you.” His words reassured her and lulled her to sleep.
“That’s such a cliché outfit.” Aaron watched with mirth as Dallas pulled on a black matt cat suit and red wig in front of a mirror.
“It’s practical though. This way I don’t have to worry about my clothes catching on anything or knocking things over.”
“And the wig?”
“Okay the wig is more for appearance than anything else. It’s a decent disguise and my trade mark to boot.” She turned to face him, “So what do you think?”
“I think you should wear that to bed sometime. It’s pretty damn kinky.”
“Oh stop thinking with your groin already.”
“You’re a sexy lady. It turns me on. I really can’t help it.” She came over to where he was sitting on the bed.
“If I had the time I’d take you right now.” Her finger outlined his jaw longingly. He kissed her fingers. “We really need to find another way to spend our time together. All this sex is throwing me off my focus.”
“I’ll try to think of something while you are gone.”
“You do that.” A couple steps and she was out of the room with her equipment slung over her back. A couple minutes later the masculine purr of her bike could be heard blazing down the street.
A loud crash sounded from the first floor. Both were out of bed and armed in seconds, on their way downstairs. When they reached the stairs a muscular blond woman came into view. Fury was etched into her face as she alternated between shouting profanities about Aaron and Dallas.
“Who the hell is that?” Dallas asked, gesturing with her gun.
“Valerie, my ex-girlfriend.” Regret was clear in his voice. He really should have moved after breaking up. Valerie hadn’t noticed them yet and was still terrorizing the first floor.
“She’s a total psycho. What the hell did you do to her?”
“Hey! She was like that when I met her. But oh man, was she ever great in bed.” Dallas hit him upside the head hard enough to make him drop the long knife held in his left hand. The sound it made as it slid into the hardwood step was loud enough for Valerie to hear and she came charging towards them. Dallas was the first to react, firing a warning shot past her head.
“Alright bitch, what exactly is it that
you want? We were trying to sleep.”
“I want my Aaron back.
He’s not yours!”
“He’s not yours either. If you don’t leave now, they will have to carry you out in several pieces.”
“You think you can take me on little girl?”
“Yeah, Dallas are you sure that’s such a good idea? She is a pro kick boxer.”
“That’s supposed to mean something to me?” She threw her gun away and ran at Valerie full on. They tumbled down the stairs less than gracefully before continuing their catfight. Aaron watched avidly. This had been one of his fantasies and he only wished they were wet. The fight went on for several minutes before the two began to tire. Dallas ended up on top as Valerie past out from the choke hold Dallas had her in. She stood shakily and went back upstairs. Aaron followed, thoroughly turned on.
“You know, it’s kinda nice to have women who will fight to the death for you.”
“Shut up. I’m mad at you.” She flopped down on the bed and was asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
