My eyelashes are stuck together
when I wake up from forever
I don’t know if it’s just tears
or your dream whispering in my ear

Anyone’s arms around me but yours
cause me to inch even closer to the door
I’d run if I could, run to where music plays
like the rhythm of your voice, so untamed

you’re like an aftertaste
that just leaves me wanting more
the sugar of your kiss
lingers on my lips
but I never remember if it was
just in my dreams, never quite sure

Your words, like tinted glass
a shield through which I’ve never passed
Yet it allows me to glimpse the depths
to which I’ve tamed, before unkempt

Scented flowers slipped around my wrist
I’ve wasted too much time not wanting this
My words ring true in the ears of the blind
if only they knew they were for you, time after time

you’re like an aftertaste
that just leaves me wanting more
the sugar of your kiss
lingers on my lips
but I never remember if it was
just in my dreams, never quite sure

left over words,
thrown together for emotion
flat soda, sour milk
forgotten in all the commotion

blurred vision
after sleep in the daylight
no matter how many times I come back
you say it just right

you’re like an aftertaste
that just leaves me wanting more
the sugar of your kiss
lingers on my lips
but I never remember if it was
just in my dreams, never quite sure
