Author’s Note: Sure you’ve sometimes compared yourselves to someone: a friend, a singer, an actor, anybody you admire; and thought you would never be as perfect as they were from your point of view. This is what happens to me, though I know it’s stupid, I can’t help it. I’ve wanted to write this song since…I don’t remember. And now, here it is. Enjoy.
Water reflects the stars
What a cold, beautiful night
I watch it, always apart
Tears go down my eyes
This night is not made for me
It’s for people that shine
So happy, so alive, so free
People that’ll kiss below the light
Chorus:
If only I could be you
(Just like you)
Live your life
Do what you do
(Just like you)
Have everything you have
Be loved as you are
(If only I could)
Perfection does not exist
But who says that’s right?
Perfection’s everything I miss
Something that it’s not inside
On and on I’m me and only me
And I can’t stop my inner fight
Watch everything I could have been
As I die slowly inside
Chorus:
If only I could be you
(Just like you)
Live your life
Do what you do
(Just like you)
Have everything you have
Be loved as you are
(If only I could)
It’s the way my life flows
Wanting to be someone else
That nobody knows
Chorus:
If only I could be you
(Just like you)
Live your life
Do what you do
(Just like you)
Have everything you have
Be loved as you are
(If only I could)
