All is fair in love and war

A confusing statement this is.

Is it fair for one to love two,

And be with both at once?

Why no! This is treacherous and lecherous,

Evil and bad. So in love, it appears

All is not fair.

But in war all must be fair,

Or why are we fighting; to save?

Wait is it truly fair for a soldier to be killed by friendly fire?

War is no longer fair,

If ever it was.

Yet people continue to quip,

“All is fair in love and war.”

Such is mans’ propensity for self-delusion.
