Claimer: I’m used to writing a disclaimer, but I suppose since this is fictionpress, not fanfiction, I should really be writing a Claimer. Anything posted here is my own original work, which means no unauthorized reproduction and such (not that anyone would want this stuff)
Anyway, I’m needle phobic, which means, obviously, I have a phobia of needles (the medical kind). As such, I do a lot of research on phobias in general and needle phobia in particular.
I came upon a very helpful website, with much information, that suggested that the best thing to do is answer the question “What would have to be different about a needle procedure for you to accept it without debilitating fear and/or pain?”
I ended up answering that I’m not even sure if I want to change my needle phobia, since it is sort of a central part of my identity by now, but that I would like it if doctors were a bit more sympathetic, rather than brushing it off as a childish phase.
Being a writer, I decided to actually write these scenarios, which are awful, for the most part. I’m basically putting them up so that I have them archived somewhere, for ease in editing and because I just may as well.
They’re awful, idealistic things, really, but having admitted that, feel free to read and review if you wish. So far, there are only two, but there may be more depending on how bored I get.
They are all written in second person, for some odd reason that you’ll have to ask my muses about if you really want to know.
I’d also like to make one small disclaimer. About the medical profession, I know only what I have managed to remember and what I have gleaned from various doctors whose truthfulness was decidedly dubious, given the situation. Any errors are my silly mistakes, any awkwardness or gaps in action purely resulting from my own ignorance. You see, I was slightly distracted at the time.
A third warning, I’m not sure how good this is, but I did my best, so if you feel like reading it, so ahead.
