The Last Dance

Lost in a daydream, lost in a trance,

Lost in your arms as we save the last dance.

My hands on your shoulders- yours on my hips,

Your chocolate brown eyes and your full crimson lips.

We move closer, together as one,

Our breathing synchronized – the dance almost done.

Lingering in your warmth, I don’t want to leave!

Just a few minutes, it’s hard to believe.

Surprise…

As your hands cover my eyes,

I jerk out of my reverie, out of the dance,

My eyes still closed- to catch a last glance.

You whisper gently into my ear,

And I quickly learn there’s nothing to fear.

I love your voice and the texture of your skin,

Memories of our friendship and the places we’ve been.

I’m writing this, to send out a sign,

That maybe, just maybe, someday and sometime,

You’ll think back, on these adventured-filled days,

As the sun settles down, stretching its rays.

And in my dream we’ll continue to sway,

Listening to all the music that passes our way.
