'For what she cannot remember'
If
there were but a mind left
behind
this shroud–an image
or
a dream–but a mind
and
the girl could go on
But
she stands still
vaguely
weeping, for what,
she
cannot remember
for
all memory vanished
when
she died
Someone
hurt her, left her
bare
when she did not
know
or understand how to go
forward
on her own
and
another never found her
She
was easily forgotten,
never
having had the chance
to
show any person that she could exist
Now,
now only the chirping crickets
hear
her sobs
as
she stands still, wrapped
in
a worn veil
crying,
for what, she cannot
remember
