A Tragic End, A New Beginning
Looking down she saw deep gashes and several streams of blood running an endless river down her body. Pivoting swiftly, she faced the masked man as he sprinted away. Running as fast as she could, she barely grabbed his sleeves. “Oomph.” The man punched her with a hand like wood. She slid slowly to the floor, as the man took his chance and ran away. Taking deep breaths she slithered over to the nearest body. “Mom, dad, Sinta, Rillie, grandma, and aunt.” Melenia whispered to the silence echoing the terror all around.
They were dead. Kneeling she look around once more. The faint sounds of sirens were heard from far away. An officer rushed over to her. “Dead, they’re all dead!” Melenia grimly said.
“Dead.” Melenia burst into tears, but not for long. Crying out in pain she faded into unconsciousness. Somewhere else, more distress calls were being answered.
Fifteen-year-old Melenia open her eyes. The massacre of 2005 in Los Angeles had only ended this January. The insane killer was finally caught. She spent six months in a local hospital relieving the horrible event for weeks and recuperating from the many injuries she received. Melenia was horrified. She took nine bullets to save her family, but they still died from being hit with one bullet each.
Melenia became emancipated after the incident. She couldn’t live with another family. It was just too…there wasn’t even a word to describe it. She kept the house for selling it would be like taking candy from a mere child. The very same candy was sweet, but bitter. It held to many memories, both happy and grim.
“Hey, Melenia!”
“Oh, Altmint.” She smiled briefly. After the event it turns out three of her friends were also emancipated. Their family died the very same day as hers. However, she witnesses her family’s death, and they didn’t. ‘Lucky them,’ she thought. ‘Altmint, Purtaina, and Kevris, the three friends.’
“Melenia!” Altmint practically screamed into her ear.
“What?” She was getting annoyed.
“You’re not paying attention and don’t call me Altmint. It’s Alvirst.” Altmint said.
“Whatever…Altmint.” For some odd reason she taken to calling him Altmint.
“Argh.” ‘Ooh. Altmint’s mad or is he frustrated? Oh, Well.”
“Don’t moan. I wonder why I even asked you to live here in the first place?” She reprimanded.
“You know why,” Retorted Altmint.
“Yes, I do.” After the event, she invited Altmint, Purtaina, and Kevris to stay in her apartment. Since they’re all emancipated she figured they could help each other survived. So, they lived together in her house.
Just than Purtaina walk in.” Hey Melenia, Altmint.”
“My name is Alvirst,” Altmint state.
“Un huh, whatever…Altmint.” Purtaina replied. Purtaina walk over and sat next to Melenia.
“Hi, girl!” Melenia say.
“Why are you talking like that?”
“For fun.” She replied to Purtaina’s question.
“Hey, People!” Kevris walk in.
“Should we make dinner or order some pizza?” Kevris ask.
“Order,” Altmint, Purtaina and Melenia cried in unison.
“Ok. Altmint go order some pizza. One Supreme, and One Pineapple Ham.” Kevris told Altmint, as he lay on the couch.
“Argh! Why does everyone call me Altmint? My name is Alvirst, and you go order pizza, Kevris. Lazy-ass.” He threw a soft light green pillow at Kevris.
“Her!” Kevris and Purtaina pointed at me.
“Um, why are looking at me like that?” She tried to look like an innocent kid, who plays in mud all day long without a care in the dangerous world.
Altmint stalk over to her, “You’re dead.” He said. In a few strides he advanced and tickled her mercilessly. Squealing like a pink pig about to be butchered she burst out laughing. “No, haha, please, haha, stop.”
“Than, what’s my name?” Altmint stopped for a second.
“Altmint,” and the tickle fest continued.
“Alright, alright, Alvirst.” Melenia yelled.
A.N. What ya think? This is just a teaser. In the next chapter I’ll describe how they’ll look like. Funny, the characters didn’t turn out the way I wanted. They have a mind of their own I guess.
