This was also written during my freshman year as an English assignment. I had been in a bit of a feminist phase where I thought if women controlled life we had control of death too. Enjoy

Grim Reaper

They say death smiles upon us
And I’m beginning to think its true
The grim reaper waits
For that day you say, “I’m through”

Sometimes we’re not ready
But we don’t get to choose
The Grim Reaper decides
Whether we win or lose

She goes by many names and faces
But no matter the name
We still fear her
And her ever growing fame

Rarely she shows mercy
In her line of work
But if you dare to cross her
You will see her lurk

If you think about it
Death smiles upon no matter where we turn
She waits very patiently
For those who just don’t learn
