Marionettes

Turn,

Turn,

Turn,

String me up

And drop me down

Laughing as

I twirl around.

As I hit the ground.

Spin, Spin,

Spin,

The world

Will always win.

So why fight

The whirling wind?

It’s easy to give in.

Turn,

Turn,

Turn,

I’ll try

To twist and bend

Ask me yet again

Try to comprehend.

Adlib, add lies

Tied tight, hung high.

Spin,

Spin,Spin,

Can you see

The ropes on me?

Look closely

People moved by string.

Just mindless marionettes.

Twirl,

Twirl,

Twirl,

Are we real?

Are we free?

Or plain puppets

Carved from rotted trees.

Can we cut the strings?

Without losing everything.
