"Excuse me! I'm looking for someone, can you help me? She's about five-foot-six, maybe 110 pounds. Black hair, grey eyes. Please? Her name is Nalini."
The receptionist stared at the wild-eyed man like he was crazy. "I could check."
"Thank you so much!"
"Please hold on, sir. Thank you." The receptionist picked up the phone, and smiled. "Hi honey. No, nothing much is going on here. Yeah… Just some dude looking for some chick. No, honey, he's not hot. Seriously. No! I'm working, love, I can't do that! Maybe later, okay? I love you too babe."
"Lady! Please!" The man frantically waved his hand in front of her face, and she looked at him again, exasperated.
"Hon, hold on," she covered the mouthpiece of the phone with her hand, "Can't you be patient?"
"No! This is very important."
"Babe, I'll have to call you back. Yeah, work. I love you more. No, I love you more. You hang up first. No, you hang up first. Okay, we'll hang up on the count of three. One… Two…"
The man slammed the phone down into the receiver. "Lady! Please!"
"Now I'll have to call him back! Jesus H Christ. Okay. Nalini you said her name was? I'll check right now. Thank you for being patient." Her voice almost sounded robotic as she quickly checked her computer. "I'm sorry, no one of that name was here today."
Disappointed and dejected, he smiled softly – "Thank you anyway" – and exited through the bright pink doors, not before taking a complementary cup of coffee.
