Mustang Spirit

Wild and free they run the plains

Racing the wind with flowing tails and manes

With fire in their eyes and freedom in their hearts

The beauty and grace of one of God’s works of art

-------

In a rainbow of colored coats covered in dust

Silver and gold, black to bay, roan and rust

The symbol of the American West,

Can they stand Time’s grueling test?

-------

Chorus:

See their glistening coats, shining in the sun

Feel the fire of their freedom as they run

Now wouldn’t it be worth it

To save this Mustang Spirit?

------

Too soon they’ll be gone

No more to see the dawn

Chopped up for someone’s Scooby Doo

Or recycled into Elmer’s glue

------

Unless we do something soon

To keep them from this icy tomb

So if you want to save this wonder

Help stop this awful blunder

------

Chorus

------

Help to keep them safe and sound

For in them I have found

The savage freedom of the Earth so fair

So like that of the majestic Eagle in the air

------

Help preserve our country’s name

‘Twas them who gave the cowboys fame

They are desperate; their need is dire

Help to save their wild fire

------

Chorus
