Love of Life
by Rachel Weisserman

Love of life is all I ask
A rest from my eternal task
Dancing on a fragile ball
At the center of it all
From a primal ooze we rise
Blinking our collective eyes
Thank Goddess for human mess
Sing your praises to the skies

On a world that shouldn't be
Adrift in non-existent sea
Here we are and problem solved
Hopefully, we have evolved
Reaching arms to distant fire
Suffocating on a pyre
Love to live and get to give
Music from the harp and lyre

Thankful for strong legs and arms
Thankful for romance's charms
Thankful for the chance to live
Running water though a sieve
In the rainbow of the sun
Moon and stars when day is done
Silver threads around your head
All the colors lost or won

Watch then as the human race
Wipes the dirt across its face
Digs in deep, prepares to shine
A chance to save your life and mine
Remember what you love the most
Mother, self or Sacred Host
Words don't age upon a page
Soon to be a silent ghost
