The Diver

I dove down

Deep beneath the shimmering blue

Into the world of mist and

Sparkles floating aimlessly

Around in patterns following

The form of another diver

Just like me, just like

Anyone else but the sunlight

Shone on all of the beauty and I saw

Through the lenses of my water-goggles

That this one was remarkably

Very much indeed the most beautiful

I’d ever seen before and I was taken

Swept away by the soul he showed me

I remained treading in the salted world and eventually

The salt got the better of us both

Burning my eyes though no water got in

It wasn’t from the outside, but from only me

He turned slowly and quietly and left

Leaving a trail of bubbles and mist behind

As he kicked and pulled his way back home

I stayed and still I wait patiently

A smile that holds no words and no emotion

He won’t be back but I’ll be here

Remembering the most beautiful one

I’ve ever seen
