Bunny Luna: Thank you yet again for the review. And no, it wasn’t tomorrow. Sorry. Too much crap going on, y’know?
SkullAndCrossbones: Thank you so much! Yay, getting people hooked. I always liked fishing….just kidding. And you might have figured it out, since a friend pointed out that I gave it away in the summary (changed it now…hehe). FamousOneLiners: Thank you very much for the review! I hope you continue to read on.
Nerdette: Thank you very much for the compliments. And I haven’t talked about their parents because, frankly, they’re not important to the story xD At least not yet. I’ll probably mention them at some other point, but they’re both alive and well.
fresianlady: I’m glad you think it’s cute Thank you for the review!
The title of this chapter is a phrase I commonly use, so that makes it amusing. And this chapter is rather short…sorry.
For You To Notice
Chapter Four: What the Biscuits?
On a usual Monday morning, everyone would have been at school around noon. However, since it was a holiday week, they took their time yet again in awakening, getting up at around eleven. Marie was the first up, like normal, followed simultaneously by Bryan and Allie.
Marie had already situated herself at the bar, eating a bowl of cereal. Bryan came down soon after taking a seat next to Marie; Allie came down about fifteen minutes later, looking quite cheerful, which of course sparked the interests of her siblings.
“So,” Marie asked between bites, “how was the date?”
“It was wonderful,” Allie responded with a content sigh. She couldn’t wait until a little later in the afternoon. Instead of staying for further interrogation, she excused herself, going back upstairs to get her shoes and purse.
At about 11:45, the doorbell rang. Bryan was about to get up and answer the door, as he was expecting Chris, but Allie called out that she would get it, for she was already by the door, about to head to Café Noir.
When she opened the door, she got quite the surprise.
Standing at the door was Topher, a very confused look on his face. “Umm, Allie? What are you doing here?”
About that time, Bryan had made his way into the living room, wondering why the pair was staring at each other so oddly. “Hey, Chris, come on in.”
“What on earth are you talking about, Bry?” Allie asked, looking back and forth between the two boys. “His name is not Chris. It’s Topher.”
“What are you talking about?” Bryan asked, doing the same as Allie had just done, “his name is Topher. He’s been my friend for quite some time now. You must be confused, with all those giddy thoughts floating in your head.”
Just before the two siblings got into a huge argument, the person in question stepped between the two; Allie looked as if she would pounce on her brother. “I guess I’ve got a little explaining to do, eh?”
Allie and Bryan stopped, looking incredulously at the speaker. He first turned to Bryan, for he knew he would listen more than Allie would, “You’re right, my name is Chris.” Bryan then stuck his tongue out at his sister. Chris then turned to Allie, who was about to attack Bryan, “And you’re right as well, I’m Topher.”
He now earned himself more confused looks. “Let me explain,” he said, sitting down. “My full name is Christopher. You,” he said, pointing to Bryan, “’have known me for a long time, back when I went by Chris all the time.
“And you,” he said, now looking to Allie, “know me as Topher. I guess you could say I’ve got ‘split personalities’.
“I’m not mental, or anything. ‘Chris’ is the side you know, Bryan. And Topher is the side that Allie knows. I had no idea you two were even related.”
Allie and Bryan looked to each other, and then both at Chris/Topher. Bryan was the first to speak, “I think I speak for the both of us when I say that we understand.” Allie followed that with a nod.
Chris/Topher sighed a sigh of relief. He thought that either he would lose Bryan’s friendship, or lose Allie’s potential relationship.
Giving Bryan one of their ‘secret’ handshakes, Chris/Topher looked at Allie, took her hand in his, and walked out the door, still determined to go on their date.
